row (with the x over it) is grandmother of Mark Borckardt, Emma Bertha (Moore) Smith, the wife
of Walter D. Smith and daughter of James Calvin Moore. Her son was James Calvin
Smith, an Army Air Corp Pilot on board the U. S. S. Langley when it was sunk by
the Japanese in 1942, and he is the Smith of the Smith-O'Neal Post of the VFW.

The third lady from the left in the back row is Ruth Irene (Behnken) Ray, wife of Leonard G. Ray, Sr. Her son, Eldon Lee Ray, was in the Army Infantry and was killed in action on June 14, 1944 on a beach in Italy. This picture was verified by Ruth's daughter, Louise (Ray) Curtis, who passed away 2010.
