Second American born generation

  Daniel Bosserman

1760-1792

Daniel was born about 1760 on the farm of  his parents in Reading Township of York (now Adams) County Pa.   He was the second born child and first son of Michael and Christina (Dierdorff) Bassermann.   He was named after his grandfather Bassermann who never  came to America.

About 1784 Daniel married  Susannah Thomas.   She was born 1 Oct 1764, a daughter  of Samuel and Magdalene Thomas.    Both Daniel and Susannah were members of the Dunker/Tunker Church.   Sometime after 1790 they moved their family to Hampshire County Virginia  (now West Virginia),  settling on Beaver Run.   This was a rather strong settlement of  brethren families from the York Co Pa - Frederick Co MD area.

It was in the Beaver-Run area of Hampshire County Virginia (now West Virginia) that Daniel Bosserman was killed by a falling tree limb.   That was around 1793 or 1794.  His  widow and children stayed on in the area until 1800.   Finally the widow married  second to Ezechiel March,  a widower with children,  and in 1805 moved with him to  Stark County Ohio.   Susannah died 7 April 1836 and is buried beside her second husband in the Freeburg Church Of The Brethren graveyard in Stark County Oh.
