J. H. BOYD J. H. Boyd. Among the enterprising and progressive merchants of West Milton, one who has attained a well merited success through legitimate channels of activity is J. H. Boyd. Mr. Boyd was born at Louisburg, Preble county, Ohio, a son of Gabriel and Catherine (House) Boyd. His education was acquired through the medium of attendance at the public schools, and when still a young man he entered upon his career in mercantile lines at his native place. Subsequently, he went to Dayton, where he became a merchant and followed that line until coming to West Milton Here he bought the establishment formerly conducted by Charles Lewis and has since developed a substantial and paying business. He carries a complete line of up-to-date goods, attractively displayed and fairly priced, and his good management and personal courtesy have combined to attract a representative trade and to place him substantially in the confidence of the buying public. Mr. Boyd has several civic and social connections and in local affairs is a stanch supporter of all movements making for advancement and better citizenship. He married Jessie Bower, daughter of a leading Preble county agriculturist, and they have one daughter, Mary Ethel, who is the wife of Frank Lair, of West Milton.
