JOURNAL OF DORA JANE (WILEY) KEY
PREFACE
In her
lifetime, Dora Jane (WILEY) KEY collected much information pertaining to her
ancestors and those of her husband William Franklin KEY. She
was severely hampered due to her physical limitations as a result of arthritis
and the lack of convenience of records now available to the researcher. As I
understand she corresponded with family members throughout the United States.
When she knew that someone was visiting another area of the country she asked
that they copy addresses of possible relatives from local directories so that
she could write to those persons. This journal is a testimony to her
determination.
No words can ever express my gratitude for the work she has accomplished. She left a heritage for many family generations to follow. This journal is a valuable contribution to her descendents.
Her
journal has been copied as she wrote it. I used this journal as a foundation for
my genealogical research. I found very few discrepancies or errors when compared
to public documents and proofs. I have enhanced her journal by including new and
corrected information in the form of “Note's" and by the use of
(parenthesis). I beg the reader’s indulgence as I felt a need to enlighten
these works for the sake of accuracy.
