Bethel
Township
Formed in 1807
Bethel Township, located in the southeast corner of the
county, was formed in 1807. Thomas Stockstill of Tennessee was the
first recorded settler in 1797. The principal towns are the villages of
Brandt and West Charleston. The National Road (U.S. 40) crosses the township
as does the Troy-Dayton Road which was cut by General Anthony Wayne.
