WIDOW OF JOHN COMPTON IS DEAD
Passing Occurs at the Home of Daughter on Water Street
After an illness of ten days the death of Mrs.
Sadie Eliza Compton, widow of John Compton, occurred Wednesday afternoon at
the home of a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Yates, 604 West Water Street.
Mrs. Compton was born on September 14, 1848, at West Liberty,
Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Abraham and Marietta (sic) J. Miller
(sic). She has been a resident of Piqua for the past 53 years and has
made her home with her daughter for the past years. She was 81 years of
age at the time of her death.
Left to mourn their loss are four daughters, Mrs. Charles Lang of
Kokomo, Indiana, Mrs. Charles Orr of Tippecanoe City, Mrs. Walter Bane of
Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Arthur Yates of Piqua; a son, Bert (sic) Compton of
Dayton; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her husband
preceded her in death on July 10, 1929.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Friday afternoon at
the home on West Water street in charge of the Rev. Charles Gowdy with burial
at Forest Hill cemetery.
