Benjamin Seighman

Benjamin Seighman was born in Lancaster County, Pa., March 17, 1839 died April 17, 1930 at the end of the day or about 12 o'clock midnight at the ripe old age of 91 years and 1 months.  When he was about 2 years old, he with his parents and other relatives came to Ohio and located in Bethel Twp, Miami County, about 60 rods(?) from where he spent the last 4 years of his life.  On September 2, 1860 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Long who preceded him in death about 20 years. To this union was given one child. William who also preceded him about 11 years.  By occupation he was a farmer, and spent the larger part of his active life on a farm about 2 miles North West of Pleasant Hill.  Mr. Seighman was married the second time to Sarah Black of Pleasant Hill, this union continued for about 8 years when she was called home.  In January 1919 he came to live with his niece Hettie Dunn where he spent the remainder of his life, or a little over 11 years, the last 15 months of which he was bedfast from infirmities of old age, bearing his infirmities with Christian patience and fortitude.  Brother Seighman has been a member of the Church of the Brethren for many years and when able to attend, was usually found at this churches services. Funeral services conducted by Rev. C. L. Flory from the Church of the Brethren, Pleasant Hill, his body was laid to rest in the cemetery of that place.
