A Miami County Newspaper
December 2, 1929

Charles Conrad, son of Harry and Emma Shebuch, was born in Newberry Township, Miami Co., on Oct. 4, 1916. He died on the evening of Wednesday, November 27, 1929, having reached the age of 13 years, one month and 23 days.  Together with the parents the following brothers and sisters survive, Joseph, Harriet, Mary Ann, and Rose Lee. A large
circle of friends are saddened over this unexpected death.  Conrad was dedicated to God in Holy Baptism on April 1, 1928. He was a faithful member of the Sunday School and Luther  League at St. John's Lutheran Church, Covington.  His death was sudden and unexpected, being the result of an unavoidable automobile accident on t he paved road South of
Covington. He and his cousin, Ned Watson, were on their way to Pleasant Hill to witness a basketball game when the accident  occurred. He was rushed back to Covington where medical attention was given but expired soon afterwards. His throat was severed by the broken windshield.  Conrad was a fine likeable boy. He was an obedient and loveable son, and a good companion to his friends. His presence will be missed in the Sunday School and Luther League, his place in the home is now vacant.

The entire community was shocked over this sad event. the sincere sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved family. May God  bless them and may they understand with Paul when he said: "All things work together for good to those who love God."

"I cannot say and I will not say
That he is dead, he is just away,
With a cheery smile and a wave of his hand
He has wondered into another land."
