Miss Doris Wenrick

A Miami County Newspaper
December 4, 1929

On July 8, 1907 near Jackson Center, Ohio, to Daniel E. Wenrick and his wife, Alice Rudy Werick, a little daughter was born,
Doris Elizabeth Wenrick.

Even as a child she was of a dainty, reserved and pleasing disposition.

When Doris was less than two years of age her mother passed away, leaving three children, Bessie, Roy and Doris.

For a time, an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Elzie(?) Young of Maplewood, shared with the father in loving care of this baby
girl.

About 14 years ago, Mr. Wenrick and his three children moved to the present Wenrick home on the Hardin Pike, West of Sidney.

Shortly after this, Mr. Wenrick united in marriage to Miss Bessie Wenrick of Piqua, Ohio, who, as a second mother to these
unmothered children, filled as few woman could, the place of comrade, councilor and mother.

From this home Doris attended the district schools and was a very conscientious and careful student and a favorite with both
students and teachers.

She assisted with the work in her home and was kind and helpful to the younger children and took great pleasure in their
company.

Later on, she held a clerkship with a cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moore of DeGraff, Ohio, where her courtesy and pleasing
personality won her many friends.

When the symptoms of the disease appeared, she fought bravely and well to withstand the attack, and finally decided to take a
course of treatment at the State Tubercular Hospital at Lima.

Doris left home in May 1928, when earth's fairest and most delicate blossoms were in bloom-the springtime of the year and of
her life.

She went hopeful and bravely and all that science and skill and tender care could do was done to save her life but in vain.

Last spring she received baptism and expressed herself as willing to "go home and be at rest."

Doris passed away November 26, 1929, aged 22 years, 4 months and 21 days. Lacking only four days of being the fourth
anniversary of her father's death.

The only remaining members of her immediate family are Roy Wenrick of San Antonio, Texas; the sister Bessie having passed
away in February 1920 and the mother and three children, Hazel, Robert, and Ralph at home.

She leaves ever a pleasant memory in the hearts of all who knew her, relatives, friends, students and nurses.

We will think of Doris as a rare delicate flower cut off before it had fully bloomed.

As a beautiful morning which was darkened while it was still day, and as has been said of one before her-

"As sweet as the breath of the roses,
As fair as the blush of the dawn,
She'll be waiting, Our Darling, Our Darling,
When breaks Eternal morn."
