Taps Sounded for Veteran Tuesday Eve
"Jim" Jessup Dies at Memorial Hospital-Funeral Friday Afternoon Irman Henry Jessup, 40, resident of Pleasant Hill, passed away at the Memorial Hospital Tuesday evening at 7:15 after a continued illness extending over a period of several years.
Although in ill health, "Jim" as he was familiarly known continued to work until in October of this year, and only took his bed Sunday evening being later removed to the hospital for a blood transfusion in a final effort to prolong his life.
As a World War veteran he saw 22 months services across the sea with a machine gun company, leaving for France three days after the death of his mother, whose funeral rites he was not permitted to attend.
He leaves his widow, two daughters, Mary Margaret and Ruby Jane, also two step daughters, Helen and Dorothy Coate.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon meeting at the home at 2:00 o'clock. E. E. Geeting, funeral director.
