MRS. ELIZA DE BRA (nee Strayer)

A little more than seventy-seven years ago on the 20th day of February 1862 in McAllisterville, Pa., there was born in the home of David and Sarah
Longanecker Strayer their daughter Eliza Strayer. She was one of a family of seven children and is the last member of this large family.
When just a young girl her mother was taken and soon after her death she came to Pleasant Hill where she made her home for several years with Aunt
Hettie Rothermiel.
On May 4, 1876 she was united in marriage to Daniel H. DeBra and to this union were given five children, Nellie, Earl, Webster, Harry and Mabel.
Only two of them are living, Mrs. Nellie Corwin of Sebring, Florida and Mr. Earl DeBra of Pleasant Hill, and they with the grandson Webster Warner
mourn her loss.
For 36 years this father and mother walked together through the lights and shadows of Life's Pathway and then the father was called to his eternal
home.
Long, long years ago Mrs. DeBra united with Pleasant Hill Christian Church and throughout her entire life the Church always had a large place in her
heart. She was faithful in attendance at all the services until failing health would no longer permit. Never pretentious or outspoken in her profession-she
live her Christianity from day to day, kind of heart, sympathetic and ever devoted in her own quiet way to her home and her children and with this
sublime faith and trust in her heavenly father she peacefully fell asleep in the early morning hours, on Friday, October 4, 1929, just (clip ends here)
