ARCHITECT OF MIAMI COURT HOUSE IS DEAD

Frank L. Packard, Who Also Designed Edwards and Van Cleve Buildings, Succumbs Following Stroke of Paralysis

Frank L. Packard, nationally known Columbus architect and architect for many public buildings in this section of the state, died Friday morning at his home in Columbus, following a stroke of paralysis. His death was a great shock to his friends all over the country and especially to Columbus, of which he was considered one of the foremost citizens.

Mr. Packard was architect of the Van Cleve high school and Edwards school building and co-architect of the magnificent Miami county court house. He also planned the Elizabeth township centralized school building and many similar buildings in this section which were among the 3,400 buildings in various parts of the country for which he prepared plans.

That he had a place of high standing in national and international architecture was shown by the signal honor conferred on him by the late President Harding by being chosen as his personal representative in selecting the site, planning and constructing of the United States Embassy building at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
