John Sowers, familiarly known as Uncle John, one of our oldest and most respected citizens died Thursday afternoon at the advanced age of eighty-three. Always an active man he was identified with the construction and management of several of the railroad which have since been incorporated into the Panhandle system. Always a consistent Christian he carried his principles into every day life and many of those who were benefited by his charity and philanthropy were present to do honors to his remains.
