Charles Joseph Caron

Charles Joseph Caron, son of Joseph and Pauline Caron, was born in Metz, Alsace Loraine, June 13, 1858.

He came to the United States at the age of sixteen, and later became a naturalized citizen. 

He was united in marriage with Susan Margaret Stricker on January 13, 1883 at Laura, O.

About 50 years ago they moved from Laura to Pleasant Hill, where he has resided during all that time.

Of the ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Caron only four are living - Mrs. Rose Louthan, of Hollywood, Cal.; Mrs. Jennie Newbold of Detroit, Mich.; Paul of Pleasant Hill and Mrs. Ruth Detrick of Tippecanoe City. Mrs. Caron, an invalid for several years, also survives and there are seven grand-children and three great grandchildren.

He was for many years a member of the Congregational Christian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Fraternity (for 44 years) and the Old Fellows Lodge for fifty years.

He departed this life at the home of his grand-daughter, Mrs. Margaret Barton, who gave him faithful care during his declining days, on Sunday, May 15, 1938, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 2 days.
