MRS. DONALD SHAFER

Dorothy Mary Louise Davis Shafer, daughter of Roy C. Davis, deceased, and Nellie Ruth Davis Colvin was born April 16, 1916 at Dayton, Ohio, departed this life in the home of her father and mother-in-law at New Carlisle, Ohio, February 28, 1938, aged 21 years, 10 months and 15 days.  Her father preceded her to the Spirit world 13 years ago.

On November 16, 1933 she was united in marriage to Mr. Donald Shafer of near Piqua, Ohio.  She was converted five years ago, becoming a member of the Church of God at Urbana, Ohio.  Her young life was fully given over into the hands of God, and her chief joy was working for the upbuilding of the kingdom of God among the young people.  God had blessed her with a beautiful voice, and before being overtaken with sickness two years ago, she rendered valuable service to God and the church by singing the gospel story.  Most of the time for the past two years she has been confined to her home on account of illness.  Though her suffering at times was almost beyond human endurance, yet her faith in God brought her to relief and comfort.  Her patience and kindness during her illness was most beautiful.  She was a faithful little wife and will be greatly missed by the lonely husband.

Those who mourn her departure are the husband, Donald Shafer, her mother, Mrs. Nellie Colvin, of Springfield, Ohio, two brothers Roy and Jack Davis of Springfield, one sister Esther Davis, of Dayton, Ohio, both grandmothers with a host of other relatives and friends.

Shafer Funeral To Be Tomorrow

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Shafer will be held Friday afternoon with brief services at the house at 1:30 o'clock followed by services at 2:00 o'clock at Glen Haven Chapel on State Route 40, two miles southeast of New Carlisle.

Mrs. Shafer passed away at 11:30 o'clock yesterday after an illness of two years.  She was a splendid example of fine Christian womanhood and her sweet disposition won for her a large circle of loyal friends, who mourn the loss by her passing at the youthful age of about twenty years.

She will be sadly missed in the home by her father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Shafer, in whose home she has been tenderly cared for during the illness which she patiently suffered.  She was a devout member of the Church of God in Piqua.

Besides her devoted husband, Don Shafer, she is survived by her mother, step-father, one brother and one sister and her father and mother-in-law.

The Shafer family were former residents of this vicinity and have many friends here who extend sympathy in the loss of this beloved member of their family.
