Carl Peiffer Dies Suddenly
Covington friends were saddened Saturday morning when word was received from San Mateo, Florida telling of the death of Carl E. Peiffer, a prominently known life-long resident of Covington. Death was attributed to an acute attack of bronchial asthma from which he suffered 15 minutes before he passed away. He was 44 years of age.
Mr. Peiffer with his wife left Covington September 10th for Florida on account of Mrs. Peiffer's health which has been declining for some time.
The deceased was born and reared in this community and followed the barber profession all his life. For many years he was manager of his shop and later operated an partnership business with F. L. Neth and also with George Barnhardt. For the past year and a half he was employed in the Smith Shop. Mr. Peiffer had many friends in both business and social circles who are grieved over his unexpected death.
The body of the deceased arrived in Dayton this morning at 10:22 o'clock and was brought to Covington in the Geo. Miller Ambulance to the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Sowery at 425 E. Spring St., where funeral service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Donald Mitchell, pastor of the Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Surviving besides the beloved widow, Mrs. Anna Peiffer and his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. David Peiffer; four sisters, Mrs. Harlson Van Skyock and Mrs. Mildred Niswonger of Dayton, Mrs. Chas. Brandenburg of Kyle and Mrs. Cleora Twaitt of Versailles; one brother Robert(?) Peiffer of Versailles.
Interment will be made in the Highland Cemetery under the direction of G. W. Miller
