Martin Bennett, 76, former resident of Green Township and well known in this vicinity, passed away at his home five miles southwest of Celina Thursday morning after a heart attack. He had been in ill health for two years. Mr. Bennett is a brother of Mrs. L. C. Wilson, of this city, and Mrs. Edith Hetzler, of Green Township. The Rev. Joseph Bennett, of Lockington; Rev. Isaac Bennett, of Fletcher, and Mrs. W. H. Prince, of St. Paris, are also brothers and sisters left to mourn his death. The deceased was a son of Madison and Elizabeth Haney Bennett, and he was born in Auglaize County on September 22, 1863. He was married three times and his wife, Mary Bennett, survives with two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. Grace Baker and Mrs. Anna Petrie, of Celina. Four children preceded him in death. The family moved to Celina from Green township many years ago and Mr. Bennett during his active years was a well known blacksmith. He was a member of the United Brethren church at Celina and the funeral rites will be conducted from the Bennett home in Celina on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be made there.
