John L Butler, 69, retired farmer, died at 2:30am Saturday at his home, 208 Harrison street, after an illness of several years duration. He had been bedfast for three weeks. Death was attributed to complications. Mr. Butler had lived in and near Troy since 1912 and is widely known throughout Miami county. He was a member of the local organizations of Jr. O U A M and Eagles lodge. He was born near Sidney, the son of Ludlow S and Albina Butler, and was reared in that vicinity. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ella Butler; three sons, Ludlow of Dayton and George and Francis of Troy; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Byrd of Bellefontaine and Mrs. Nellie Lusk of Noblesville; and five grand- children. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday from the Congregational Christian church, of which he was a member, with Dr A H Hook officiating. Burial will be in the Houston cemetery. Friends may call at the home until the hour of the funeral.
