Walter L. Mumford, 55, native and life-long resident of Miami County, former Fletcher postmaster and merchant, and employee of the Hobart Manufacturing company the last 12 years, succumbed to a sudden heart attack at 1:45 Monday afternoon in the Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy, following an extended illness. He had been in declining health since the first of the year but the last month his condition had continued to grow more alarming. Mr. Mumford was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Mumford of Christiansburg. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Harriet Buchanan Mumford, two sons, John and Corwin Mumford, two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Herschel Shroyer of Cincinnati and Mrs. Max Snyder of Springfield.
