Samuel O. Rench, son of Joseph and Lucinda Rench was born Dec. 11, 1852 and departed to be with his Lord, May 28, 1930 aged 77 years, 5 months and 12 days. He was born in Covington and lived the greater part of his life in Covington and vicinity. Mr. Rench followed farming early in life, later he engaged in the restaurant business and still later was engaged in the grocery business on South High Street, Covington, Ohio. June 12, 1878 he was united in marriage with Libbie Younce who died April 10, 1918. April 6, 1922 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Fannie Schauer, who preceded him to the "home over there" Mar. 13, 1930. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minerva Younce and the following brothers, Joseph Rench, John H. Rench, David M. Rench William Rench and N. R. Rench, all of Covington, Ohio. During the last weeks of this illness and suffering he was tenderly cared for by loving friends and relatives. His sister and his five brothers were constant in their attendance during the weary nights of his affliction. In his young manhood he became a member of the Church of the Brethren and remained a staunch consistent, devoted member of the church he so much loved. The church and her welfare became a prime interest of his life. In recent years he has served as the efficient caretaker of the building, and grounds of the Covington Church of the Brethren. By his genial attitude, his loyal devotion to duty, his untiring efforts to keep the property in the best possible condition, his careful consideration for the comfort and best interests of all the folks in attendance won for him the friendship and love of both young and old as he served so faithfully and efficiently in this work which was to him a delight. He will be long remembered as a result of these pleasant and helpful contacts with his many brethren, sisters and friends of the church at this place. Brother Rench was a conscientious, faithful member of the church and a regular attendant at all the services. The pastor and workers could always depend upon his support and cooperation. In the passing of our brother, the community loses one of its most highly respected citizens, the church loses one of its most earnest and dependable members and his family loses one whose love and devotion to them was deep and true. The community unites in its expression of high regard for the one who has been called from us and the family are assured of their sympathy in this time of bereavement.
Card of Thanks: The family wishes to thank their many neighbors and friends for the many kindnesses and words of sympathy during the sickness and death of their loved one.
A Happy Memory
There is memory that time can't erase
The days I spent in the home
The love that was shown by every one
Can't leave me no where I may roam.
The loving brothers were always at hand
When duty called them here
And also the sister, the only one left
Stayed faithful when his end was near.
