Mrs. William H. Folkerth
expires in Indiana victim of rare blood disease
Friends and relatives were saddened by word of the death of Mrs. Anna Higgins Folkerth, 49 years of age, wife of William H Folkerth, Piqua coal dealer, of 526 West North Street, which occurred at 5:42pm Monday evening at the Munson General Hospital, Traverse City, Michigan. Mrs. Folkerth was a victim of a rare disease of the blood.
Nearly two weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Folkerth and their son, William, left Piqua for Traverse City on a vacation trip and last Wednesday she became so ill that it was necessary to remove her to a hospital. Although she had not been well for some time previous, no alarm was felt for her condition until she was taken to the hospital, where she became steadily worse and died yesterday.
Mrs. Folkerth was born February 6, 1886 on a farm near Jackson Center, in Shelby County. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Higgins of Sidney and a niece of Mr. George Higgins of this city. She had resided in Piqua for about 20 years and was a valued member of Greene Street M E Church and of the Philathea class of that congregation.
Besides her husband, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Higgins of Sidney; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Opperman (Thelma Partington) of Piqua; a son William of Piqua; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harry Joseph (Gladys Folkerth) of Springfield, Ohio; a brother, Harley Higgins of Piqua; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Voress of Shelby County and Mrs. Wilma Vorees of Sidney; five grandchildren, Paul, Hope, Dorothy and Douglas Joseph of Springfield, and Carla Jo Opperman, only four weeks old.
The body will be brought to Piqua, arriving tonight with funeral arrangements announced later.
