Sally Jane Varble

Sally Jane Varble, the subject of this sketch was the eldest of seven daughters born to bless the union of William R. and Minerva Dawkins, was born in Oldham County near LaGrange, Kentucky on October 25, 1853. Three sisters survive her, Alice Thornton, of Lakeland, Ky., Ella Reed of Pleasant Hill, and Stella D. Kraus of Louisville. Her husband, James Varble, preceded her in death 15 years ago. She came to Pleasant Hill to make her home with her sister seven years ago, and while here her amiable disposition made her many friends. She was a member of the Baptist Church at LaGrange, Kentucky. While in our midst she attended, as health would permit, the Little White Church. She passed away following and illness which terminated in pneumonia on Tuesday morning in her 79th year.
