Prominent Pleasant Hill Resident Dies Following Extended Illness. Funeral Saturday. Mrs. Mary Sponsler, wife of John H. Sponsler, and prominent resident of Pleasant Hill, passed away at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at her home on S. Main St., following an illness of 3 years duration. Death was due to complication of diseases. She was 76 years of age. The deceased was born at Sugar Grove and had lived in the vicinity of Pleasant Hill throughout her life. She was a devout member of the Congregational Christian Church for a number of years. Surviving besides the husband are eight children, two sons, Charles of Blanchester and Frank of Hillsboro, six daughters, Mrs. Nina Penniston, Dayton; Mrs. Bessie Pearson, Troy; Mrs. Helen Howard, Erie, PA; Mrs. Catherine Martinette, Piqua; Mrs. Bee Sturm and Miss Emma Sponsler of Pleasant Hill; a brother, W.W. Whitmer, Covington, a sister Mrs. Martha Hall, Pleasant Hill, and five grandchildren. A number of other relatives and acquaintances of friends also survive. Funeral services have been arranged for Saturday and will be conducted at the Pleasant Hill Congregational Christian Church at 3 o'clock. Her pastor, Rev. W. G. Kershner will officiate. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of R.R. Whitmer.
