John Miller was born in Messinger, Germany on Dec. 18, 1846; he died at his home north of Gettysburg, O., in the early hours of Wednesday morning March 20th, 1935. He had reached the ripe old age of 88 years, 3 months, and 2 days. He was twice married. The first marriage was with Mary Schmidt who died in 1891. To this marriage union the following children survive; Mrs. Mary Deeter, Long Beach, Calif.; Barney Miller of South Dakota; John Miller of Gettysburg; Mrs. Christina Jones, Deland, Fla.; Mrs. Agnes Maier, Covington; Mrs. Anna Bartels, Dayton; Albert Miller of Gettysburg. There are nine grandchildren. Also one sister living, Mrs. Thomas Ritz of Dayton. The second marriage was to Christian Myer, who died in 1930. Mr. Miller came to this country when he was 34 years old. He first settled near Covington where he lived quite awhile. He also lived in Shelby County for awhile. And for the past thirty years he had lived a few miles north of Gettysburg. The deceased had been a member of St. John's Lutheran congregation for a long number of years. He was a faithful member, seldom missing a communion service. --- Newspaper clipping ends here---
