Last Civil War Veteran Dies At New Paris

New Paris Last Civil War Veteran Died Last Night After Long Illness
New Paris, Ohio- Dr. William B. Graham, last Civil War veteran in New Paris and Jefferson Township died this morning at his home here at 9 o'clock after an illness of several weeks duration.
Dr. Graham, a native of Braffetsville, had resided in New Paris for the last four years, coming here from Richmond, Ind. He would have been 93 years old June 23.
Born at Braffetsville, he was a teacher in the district school there for several years. After obtaining his medical training he practiced in Arcanum, O., Whitewater and Richmond, Ind. He retired from active practice about 15 years ago after devoting more than 50 years to the profession.
Dr. Graham joined the Methodist Episcopal Church more than 80 years ago, and was an active member of St. Paul's Church here at the time of his death.
He served the duration of the Civil War with the 100th Indiana. He was past commander of the Arcanum Post, the Whitewater Post and the Sol Meredith Post, (Richmond) Grand Army of the Republic, active in G.A.R. work he had taken part in Memorial Day and other patriotic observances at Richmond for many years.
