Herman Timmer
Herman Timmer, 28, well known young business man of Tippecanoe City, passed away at the Miami Valley hospital at 4 o'clock Wednesday morning following an extended illness. He had been in ill health for the last ten years. While attending the U.S. Naval academy during the World war, Mr. Timmer contracted pneumonia. He never fully recovered from the effects of the attack and for the past few years had been in a weakened condition. About two years ago he submitted to an operation which improved his condition for a short time, but for the last several months he became steadily worse. Ten days ago he was taken to the Miami Valley hospital in the hopes treatment there would restore his health. However, the effort was futile and for the last few days he grew steadily worse with death coming early Wednesday morning. Mr. Timmer was born in Tippecanoe City of Oct. 5, 1899 and had spent his entire life in that city. He was a graduate of the Tippecanoe City high school and had attended the University of Pennsylvania in addition to the time spent at Annapolis. Since his return from college, Mr. Timmer had been associated with his father, Edward H. Timmer, in the Miami County Lumber company, located in Tippecanoe City. His pleasing personality had won him a host of personal friends and his courteous manner of doing business won him the friendship and esteem of those who came in contact with him in a business way. Fraternally he was associated with the Masonic lodge in Tippecanoe City. He was also a member of the Zion Lutheran church. Mr. Timmer was also a member for several years previous to his death of the County Board of Visitors, being appointed by Judge R. A. Kerr. He had also served as a member of the council of Tippecanoe City. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Baldwin Timmer, with whom he was united in marriage about 18 months ago. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Timmer, and one sister, Helen Timmer, all of Tippecanoe City, are the other close relatives living. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the home of the parents with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Rev. R. A. Harsman of the Zion Lutheran church will be the officiating minister.
