Obituary of
Joseph Henry Johnston
Joseph Henry Johnson, son of Dennis C. and Mary Jane Johnston, was born Dec. 23rd, 1857, on the farm now occupied by Oscar Johnston, a little south of Covington. He died on Jan. 26th, 1927, at his residence on South High Street, Covington, aged 69 years, 1 month and 4 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah Emma Coffman, daughter of Peter Coffman, Sept, 11th, 1884, and moved two miles east of town on the Troy Pike. After a brief illness Mrs. Johnston died August 24th, 1900. He was again united in marriage on Jan. 30th, 1902, to Mary Dick, daughter of Jonathan and Clara Dick, Troy, Ohio. In 1922 they moved to Covington where he resided up to the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Mary, three brothers, Oscar, Clem and Jacob, nephews and nieces, and a host of friends. One sister preceded him in death. At the age of 24 years he was made a member of the Odd Fellows lodge and has been a very active member for the past 45 years in subordinate encampment, and the Rebeccas. He was one of the oldest members. Many years ago he united with the First Presbyterian Church, Covington, and was a member up to the time of his death. He was a faithful member of the Men's Bible class of the Presbyterian Sunday School.
