Reuben Beard Dies Tuesday
Mr. Reuben Beard, a prominently known farmer, passed away this morning at 5 o'clock at his home near Greenville Creek at the age of 66 years. Mr. Beard had been in failing health since Thanksgiving and a few days ago he developed pneumonia which terminated in his death. The deceased had spent all his life in this community where he is widely known with a large number of friends. He was an active member of the Greenville Creek Church. Surviving besides the widow are three sons, James of Bradford, Walter of Orlando, Florida and Ralph who resides at home; three sisters, Mrs. John Swisher and Mrs. Mary Coate of Pleasant Hill, and Mrs. Minnie Jones of New Lebanon; two brothers, David of Covington and Calvin Beard of Bradford. A step-daughter Mrs.. Ella Overholser preceded him in death about 5 weeks ago. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the late residence at 1:30 o'clock and at the Greenville Creek Church at 2 o'clock. Rev. Frank Thomas, pastor of the Greenville Christian Church will officiate. Interment will be made in the Greenville Creek Cemetery under the direction of Stocker and Porter funeral directors.

Mr. Reuben E. Beard son of Emanuel J. and Sarah Beard was born Feb. 13, 1869, and died March 5, 1935 at the age of sixty-six years and twenty days. At the age of twenty-six on Oct. 6, 1895 he was united in marriage to Hannah Ella Hart. To this union were born three sons, Ralph and James Beard of Bradford, and Walter Beard of Orlando, Florida. On May 30th, 1910 his wife Ella died, leaving behind her husband with three motherless sons. On July 10, 1913 he was married to Clida Holfinger, becoming a father to her three children. He has always been active in the affairs of this community. When a young man he joined the I. O. O. F. Lodge. On Feb. 24, 1907 he united with the Greenville Creek Christian Church under the pastorate of Rev. James E. Fenner. He has always been very active in the work of the church, and for many years has been a trustee. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Clida Beard, his three sons, Ralph, Walter, and James, a stepson Owen Holfinger, two brothers David of Covington and Calvin of Bradford, three sisters Mrs. John Swisher and Mrs. Mary Coate both of Pleasant Hill, and Mrs. Minerva Jones of Lebanon besides many relatives and friends. He made a place of love and affection for himself in the life his home, his church, and the community in which he has lived all his life. While we mourn his departure, we rejoice in the good which he has done which still lives and will continue to live in our hearts and lives. His family wish to thank all who have extended their help and sympathy during the sickness and death of their loved one.... Mrs. R. E. Beard and Family.
