Dale F. Poe
Dale F. Poe, son of George and Louisa Poe, was born in Pleasant Township, Van Wert County Ohio, January 13, 1901, departed this life May 31, 1935 at the age of thirty-four years, five months and eighteen days. He was a graduate of Van Wert High School, Ohio Wesleyan University and received a Master's degree from Ohio State University. Thirteen years ago he entered the teaching profession, the last eleven years of the period being spent in the high school at Covington, Ohio, where he endeared himself in the hearts of his fellow teachers and the students as their principle. Early in childhood he was converted and united with the Bethel Methodist Church. For the past ten years he has been an active member of the Covington Congregational Christian Church, serving efficiently in a number of offices of the church, an outstanding leader, and teacher of the Homemakers Class in the Sabbath School. Fraternally, he was a esteemed brother of Covington Lodge No. 168 Free and accepted Masons being the first Master of that lodge to go his reward while holding office. His many friends spread over a wide area grieve at his departing. Surviving him besides his parents are his widow Evangeline M. Poe and two sons, Robert and Donald, a brother George Poe, and two sisters, Mrs. Donald Timmons and Mrs. Harold Craig. A former pastor pays this tribute to Mr. Poe:
"Dale was a man of the type of character which especially appealed to me. He was open and unafraid, he was a Christian without hypocritical pretensions, he was very human in every relationship, and as teacher he could impart knowledge and clinch it with respect for his character. I am proud to have had him as a friend."
