David A. Beard
David A. Beard son of Johnson and Sarah Beard was born near Bradford, Ohio Sept. 22nd, 1855 being 80 yrs. 4 mo. and 12 days old. He was active in church work as long as his health permitted. He had served as deacon for a number of years at Greenville Creek Church, also served as Supt. of the same Sunday School. On Sept. 22nd (his 80th birthday) was the last service he was permitted to attend but was always anxious concerning the church work. He was married to Mary G. Better in 1878, to this union were born a son and a daughter, Mrs. Dora Brinker and Harry E. Beard both of Covington Ohio, also a foster son Herbert C. Popp, Herbert being a nephew of Mrs. Beard's. Daddy Beard as he was called by young and old, was blessed with nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, of which he was so proud. A granddaughter Mrs. Marie Fahnestock, was the oldest of the grandchildren and was called away three years ago. This was a terrible blow to Daddy Beard of which he often talked, also grandson, Wilbur Louis Beard passed away in infancy. He leaves three sisters, and one brother, Mr. Calvin Beard of Bradford, Ohio, Mrs. Mary E. Coate and Mrs. Clina Swisher both of Pleasant Hill, Ohio and Mrs. Minnerva Jones of Lebanon and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
