Margaret Powell Dies Wednesday
Funeral Rites For Prominent Hill Resident Will Be Held Friday P.M.
An extended illness due to complication of diseases ended Wednesday afternoon about 1:30 o'clock when Mrs. Margaret Powell succumbed at her home in Pleasant Hill, at the age of 81 years. The deceased, the widow of John Wesley Powell, was a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill and had the highest esteem of her many acquaintances. She was a devout member of the Congregational Christian Church for a number of years. Relatives surviving include a son, N.H. Powell of Pleasant Hill; a step-daughter, Mrs. A.J. Bausman of Piqua; a brother, Clinton Hill of Kiowa, Kansas; a sister, Maria Patty of Pleasant Hill, two half-sisters, Mrs. Pricilla Fouts and Mrs. Clara Belle Coate of Wymore, Nebraska; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her husband passed away in 1907. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence on Long Street with her pastor Rev. W.G. Kershner, officiating. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of E. E. Geeting.
