Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Scobey are sadly bereaved in the death of their only child, Ruth, who was a promising baby nine months of age. She was so beautiful, and such a sunbeam in the house, that the parents were blind to the possibility that Death could or would rob them of their joy. But after ten hours of suffering from cholera infantum, Ruth's little body was dead, and her soul, in the silent, sweet sanctity of the early Sabbath morning, August 1st, went to its abiding peace, where it is said "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.
"Reach us thy beckoning hand,
Lead to the better land,
Help us to understand,
What thou would'st say.
Cruelly were tempest tossed,
Sadly our hopes are crossed,
Almost our souls are lost,
In darkest night.
Where anguish cannot dwell,
Where teardrops cease to swell,
Where is no grim farewell,
Lead kindly light."
The remains of the baby were laid in beautiful Riverside cemetery Tuesday evening, S. O. Royal with a large congregation of friends, attending the obsequies.
