Michael L. Sollenberger
Michael L. Sollenberger, son of Jacob and Elizabeth Sollenberger, was born January 20, 1853 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and departed this life November 29, 1931, from the effects of a paralytic stroke, aged 78 years, 10 months and 9 days.
When 11 years of age, he with his parents moved to Du Page County, Illinois, October 10, 1876 he was married to Delia Netzley, who departed this life December 27, 1884. To this union two children were born; Lester W. Sollenberger of Pleasant Hill, and Mrs. E. B. Deeter of Covington, Ohio. In 1885 leaving Illinois he moved near Beatrice, Nebraska. Aug. 25, 1887 he was again united in marriage to Minnie M. Gish. Together they labored in the interest of each other for 44 years. In 1900 they retired from active life and moved to Mt. Morris, Illinois where they resided until 1919. Desiring to live near the children they came to Pleasant Hill.
He united with the Church of the Brethren March 4, 1889, and after was elected to the office of Deacon. In October 1928 he transferred his membership to the Dunkard Brethren Church where his office of Deacon continued. To this office he served faithfully until the end. He was of a kind and friendly disposition, a loving and affectionate companion and father.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his companion, two children, four grandchildren, three brothers; Samuel of Fairbury, Nebraska, Aaron of Glendora, California, Ira of Denver, Colorado; two sisters, Mary Netzley of Pasadena, California and Emma Shiffler of Naperville, Illinois, and many other relatives and friends.
