Well-Known Farmer Dies Monday Near Troy From Illness. Thomas J. Becker Is Called Early Monday. Former Resident of West Milton Succumbs at Advanced Age of 86 - Was Widely Known: Funeral Services Are Arranged.
Thomas J. Becker, 86, retired farmer, well known in Montgomery and Miami Counties, died at the home of his son, Edward C. Becker one mile west of Troy on the McKaig Road, Monday morning at 1:45 o'clock. He had been an invalid for the last four years and nine weeks ago went to the house of his son where he was cared for during his last illness. Death was attributed to kidney infection.
The decedent was born in Union, Montgomery County, January 12, 1845. His entire life was spent in Montgomery County and Miami Counties, where he farmed. Following his marriage, September 30, 1866, to Miss Martha Hickman, the couple removed to a farm near West Milton, where six children were born to them, one son Dorsey having died in 1900.
Since the death of Mrs. Becker in 1925, Mr. Becker had spent his time with his children. Those who survive are: Edward, at whose home he died; John H. Becker of Troy; William E. of Dayton; Mrs. Jennie Royer of West Milton and Mrs. Mary Brewer of southwest of Troy. He leaves also one brother, John S. Becker of near West Milton, 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Dunkard church of West Milton. Burial will be.........the remainder is cut off.........
