Mrs. William Smith

Mrs. Wm. Smith, nee, Grace Katherine Mutzner, daughter of Andrew and Mary Mutzner was born in Darke County, Ohio, Aug. 27, 1890 and was called to her home with the Lord, Monday, January 23, 1928, aged 37 yrs, 4 mos. and 26 days. She lived most of her life in vicinity of Covington, O. On Aug. 29, 1908, she was united in marriage to William Smith. To them were born nine children, all of whom survive. They are, Wilma, Glenna, May, Carl, Mary Frances, Ruth, Naomi, Marion, Robert and Grace Juanetta. Mrs. Smith was one of a family of six, four of whom survive her. A brother, Charles Mutzner, preceded his sister to the world beyond. The surviving brothers and sister are, John Mutzner, David Mutzner, Wm. Mutzner and May, now Mrs. Charles Palser. When very young and tender in years she accepted Christ as her Saviour and gave her life to His service. She at that time joined the Church of the Brethren in Covington, O. and through the intervening years of girlhood and womanhood has continued faithful to her Lord in the work of the church which she loved. She was devoted to the highest interests of the Kingdom and regular in her attendance at the meetings held in the house of the Lord.  She had the joy also of seeing her husband and children with her in the assembly of God's people. Her religion was to her a source of joy and power.  Her pure Christian character and life of loyal devotion have made an impression that will live not only in the hearts of her own family but also leaves a lasting and inspiring influence upon the lives and character of all who had the pleasure and benefit of personal contact with her life. In her passing, our brother loses a wife, who was in the highest sense a true help mate and the children lose one whose inspiring career has added lustre to that sacred term "Mother."  Her brothers and sisters lose a sister who leaves with them a memory that shall ever prove a benediction. The church loses a member whose presence and service will be greatly missed both on the Lord's day and on other days when those who have been her coworkers and fellow worshippers meet in the interests of the Church she loved and to which she was ever true. Our community loses one whose genial smile, pleasant manners and kindly attitude had won for her a large circle of friends. These all unite in their tributes of respect to this noble wife, mother and sister. Likewise they join in their expressions of sympathy to the sorrowing husband, children and other relatives. The bereaved family desire to express their very deeply felt appreciation of the many kindnesses received from their numerous neighbors and friends during the illness and since the death of this loved one.
