Death of Mr. James E. Simes

Word has been received here of the passing away of Mr. James E. Simes, at Grant Hospital, Columbus, about midnight last night.  Mr. Simes had been removed to the hospital when found to be suffering from blood poisoning. Nothing could be done to relieve his sufferings, the end coming only a few days after his removal to the hospital.  Mr. Simes was born in Covington, as was his father, Mr. Tom Simes. He lived for many years in the old home on Pearl Street where the aged mother, Mrs. Mary E. Simes still spends a part of her summers. He was a graduate of the Covington Public Schools, Miss Lizzie Kreigbaum a schoolmate and one of the teachers becoming his wife. About fifteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Simes with their daughter, Mrs. Miriam Martz, removed to Columbus where they have since resided. Mr. Simes always retained a love for the old home, and gave a very touching talk to the Sunday School at the Christian Church just after the sudden all of his only brother, Mr. John Simes, last Spring. He was a member of the Mason Lodge here until his death.  The wife and only daughter, Mrs. Martz of Wellville, and one grand-daughter, the aged mother and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Brown, of Dayton and Mrs. Homer Weaver remain to mourn his loss. A number of friends and other relatives here also remain.  Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock from the Christian Church, Rev. Ohmer S. Thomas officiating. Burial in Highland Cemetery.
