Samuel Franklin Berryhill
The subject of this sketch was the son of Aaron and Catherine Berryhill. He was born near Fletcher, O., May 29, 1860. He died at his home in Covington, O. Feb. 22, 1929, at the age of 68 years 8 months and 23 days. He was born and grew up on the farm.
He was married to Miss Jennie Smith, Feb. 22, 1882, and together they shared the joys and sorrows as well as the cares of life for exactly forty seven years, his death occurring on the anniversary of their marriage. They were blessed with one son, Mr. Carl Berryhill of Covington.
For twenty-four years after their marriage they lived on the farm near Fletcher, in which place he became interested in the produce business. At that time he moved to Covington where he was interested in the building of the ice plant and creamery now owned by the Westerville Company. For sometime he followed the produce business here and then his health not being good he sold out and took up interests with the Long Produce Company of Indiana, in which state he lived while actively connected with that company. About three years ago his health became such that he thought wise to retire from real active business and moved to Covington. However he still took active interest in business in some ways and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Citizen's National Bank of Covington even up to the time of his death.
He has been an active member of the lodge of Knights of Pythias of Fletcher, O., for a long time. In his life he exemplified the teachings of that order as a friend and brother.
Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his departure his son Carl and grandson Jack Berryhill, two brothers and one sister all of Fletcher, besides many, many friends.
