In Memoriam
Jane Logan Graham was born in Hamilton County Ohio on November 4th, 1818, and died at her farm five miles south-west of Piqua September 11th 1900, at the advanced age of 81 years.
In 1841 she was united in marriage to James Graham. In 1849 they moved to Miami County Ohio, where the home has ever since been maintained. On October 26, 1863 her husband died, leaving her with the care of a large family. Eleven children graced the home, four girls and seven boys, all of whom are still living except two boys. Besides the sons and daughters there are twenty grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren left to revere her memory.
When eighteen years old she joined the Methodist Church at Sharonville, Ohio, remaining in the fellowship of that church until after her marriage, when she placed her letter in the Presbyterian Church of which her husband was a member. For 50 years she was a member of the Presbyterion Church in Piqua, in which her husband was an Elder at the time of his death.
Of late she was able to attend the Sabbath service, yet often spoke of her firm trust in her Heavenly Father. Left with the care of nine children, when her husband died, she struggled bravely against all discouragements until they were grown to mature years and settled in life. Her home to her was the center of all. She was a loving devoted wife and mother; a friend to all in need; always kind and true, so that she seemed to belong to every home in the neighborhood and not to one alone. After a long life spent ministering to others, and with an unfaltering faith in God, she passed quietly away, amid the spaces where she had lived so long. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Heber D. Ketcham, Sept 13th and her body laid to rest in the cemetery at Covington.
