Jeremiah Thompson Veteran - Civil War - 44th Regiment Ohio Calvary
Mr. Jeremiah Thompson passed away at his home on N. High Street, yesterday afternoon, at a little after two o'clock. He had been ill for the past five weeks, and was tenderly cared for by the children during this time. Mr. Thompson was born on the old Hoover farm near the Greenville Creek Church, June 9th, 1840, one of triplets, Jeremiah, Josiah and Hezekiah. He was the last of the family of thirteen children, the last brother passing away ten years ago. He was a life long member of the Christian Church, and will be buried near the place of his birth. He was a member of the G. A. R. one of the oldest among the few remaining. He was one of the 44th Regiment, Ohio Cavalry, enlisting in the hundred day service and re-enlisting during the war. He leaves three sons and a daughter, Harvey of Piqua, Donnie of near Bradford, Will of Dayton, and Mrs. Catherine Bazzill of Bradford. There are also fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The wife and mother passed away Dec. 7th, 1900. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the Greenville Creek Church at 2:00 o'clock, meeting at the home at 1:00 o'clock. Services will be in charge of Rev. O. P. Furnas, Rev. Bailey, assisting. The Masonic Order will also have part in the services. There will be military ceremonies at the cemetery. Burial will be made in Greenville Creek Cemetery, Routzahn Brothers Funeral Directors.

Jeremiah Thompson
Jeremiah Thompson was born June 9, 1840, at Greenville Creek, Miami County, Ohio, and he passed away at Covington, Ohio, Feb. 14, 1927, age 86 years, 10 months and 14 days. He was married to Minerva Brandon in 1861, she preceded him in death Dec. 7th, 1900. To this union was born 8 children, two died in infancy, one daughter at the age of 6 and one at the age of 26. There is left to mourn his loss 4 children: Harbey of Piqua, Katy of Bradford, O., Donnie of near Bradford, and Will of Dayton, O. Also 14 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Thompson was the last of 13 children and he being a triplet, the 3 were named: Jeremiah, Josiah and Hezekiah, the last two preceded him in death some years ago. He entered the service of the Civil War, Sept. 10, 1861, he was honorably discharged and mustered out July 30, 1865, serving continually during the Civil war. He was member of the Langston Post G. A. R. of Covington, Ohio. Mr. Thompson has been a member in good standing of the Masonic Order for many years. He joined the Greenville Creek Christian Church when a young boy and has been a Deacon in that church for 41 years, and a highly respected citizen of Miami and Darke counties during his entire life. The members of the family wish to thank Dr. H. W. Kendell and the many kind neighbors and friends, and especially Mr. and Mrs. McGarity and Mr. Davis Flory for their continued kindness.
