Mrs. Margaret E. Nesbitt is dead at her home on the corner of Franklin and Short streets, this city, at the age of 74. Death came Friday morning at 5:30 o'clock and was due to a general breaking down of the system. She had been ill for several weeks. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church and well known in Troy. Eight children, three sons and five daughters living in various parts of the county, survive. Mrs. Charles Holm, with whom she made her home, is one of the daughters. James Nesbitt, her husband, passed away a number of years ago. Mr. Nesbitt was employed in the court house for 50 years as auditor, recorder, treasurer and clerk. Mrs. Nesbitt was the daughter of Joseph Lightfoot, who years ago conducted a hotel or inn, as it was then called, in Troy. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 pm from the residence.
The late Mrs. Margaret Nesbitt, whose death occurred Thursday, now sleeps beside her husband in Riverside cemetery. The funeral services, held Sunday afternoon, were attended by many friends. Rev. Clokey officiated and appropriate hymns were sung by a quartet from the Presbyterian church. C. W. Tobey, H. P. Weatherhead, D. W. Smith, A. T. Jaques, T. M. Campbell and T. E. Coles were the pallbearers. While the casket was being lowered to its place a part of the embankment or earth caved in, delaying the burial until it could be removed. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Benn of Dayton attended the service.
