Mazie Teeter
On March 21, 1877, Mazie Teeter was born. She was one of fourteen children who came to bless the home of Elias and Susannah Teeter who resided on a farm one mile west of Pleasant Hill, and for 31 years, 10 months and 12 days her life has been a blessing to the community.
As a child of eleven she gave heart to Jesus and united with the Brethren Church where for many years she has been a tireless worker, serving all of her adult life as a teacher in the Sunday School as Superintendent; and Recording Secretary and a member of the Official Board of many years. The church recognized her as a consistent faith Christian serving and living for her Lord.
Thirty one years ago she began teaching in the public schools of this village and is the only person who has given her whole life to this work in this community. Honored by her associates she will be greatly missed in our community life. Hundreds of men and women bear witness to her faithful service, and her impression on their lives.
Words fail to express the value of her years of service in this community, her humble, sincere, faithful Christ like life will remain a inspiration to many of us for years to come.
She leaves to mourn her departure three sisters. Florence Davis and Estella Russel of Dayton and Carrie Senseman of Englewood; four brothers, Lloyd, of Columbus, Wiley, of Tippecanoe City, Roy of Ashland and wide circle of other relatives and a host of friends.
Yes the sweet Gardner hath borne her hence
Nor must we ask to take her hence away
Thou shalt behold her, in some coming hour
Full blossomed in his fields of cloudless day.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Brethren Church, conducted by her pastor H. C. Marlin who was assisted by Rev. Bingham of Inglewood. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in charge of Routzahn Brothers and Hawn.
