Henry H. Hayworth has answered the last roll-call at the age of 78 years. He was born in Newton Township about 2 1/2 miles south west of our village and never at any time resided outside of the county. Growing to manhood he was married to Anna Brant in 1842. To them eleven children were givin of whom eight are still living, seven sons and one daughter. Six of the sons were present at the funeral on March 4 and acted as pall-bearers. His wife preceded him to the other shore, August 26, 1895, after they journeyed side by side for more that 54 years. Henry was a member of the Hopewell Christian church and a member of D. W. Williams Post G. A. R., which furnished honorary pall-bearers at the funeral. He was a member of Co. B. 71st O. V. I. during the war of the Rebellion and participated in many important battles. He was a good soldier, a consistent church member, a good neighbor, a kind and indulgent father and highly esteemed in our village and community. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. P. Furnas, assisted by the pastor Rev. W. H. Sando. Most excellent music by the Christian church choir assisted by Prof. Murlin, of the M. E. Church, and Mr. Will N. Tucker of The Brethren Church. The interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
