Another Veteran of the Civil War
answers the Last Roll Call
J. Oliver Neer, who served in the 45th and 134th Regiments of Ohio Infantry during The Civil War, died at the home of his brother-in- law John W. Zimmerman in Champaign County, Sunday afternoon. The deceased was for many years an active and prominent business man of Piqua. For two or three years past he had experienced ill health which culminated in a paralytic attack, which compelled him to forego all business cares. He was a Mason of high rank and enjoyed the love of his brethren in the order to a gratifying degree. He was endowed with the faculty of winning and retaining friends and his death will make a sad gap in the ranks of those who knew him for what he was worth and loved him for what he was. He was buried yesterday afternoon.
