William H. Northcut Passes Away
Ten days ago William H. Northcut was stricken with paralysis, of which he died at an early hour Sunday morning. The deceased was a native of Miami County, having first seen the light of day in Lost Creek Township in 1828. While yet a boy he learned the trade of carpenter, which he followed many years, being principally engaged as a contractor for the erection of farm buildings, a large number of which remain to prove the thoroughness of his work. Later he was elected as a republican county commissioner, serving two terms. Since then he was a resident of Troy.
He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Earnhart in 1851, who died without issue, twenty six years later. In 1882 he married Miss Lorena McKinney, who survives him. Mr. Northcut possessed many genial qualities that endeared him to a large circle of friends and acquaintances and his death is generally mourned in this community where his home has been so many years. The funeral services were held in the Christian Church Tuesday forenoon, and the body was laid away in Riverside Cemetery.
