George H. Shearer
George Henry Shearer son of Emmanuel and Lydia Shearer was born January 1845 and died July 22, 1927 having attained the age of 82 years 6 months and 21 days.
He was one of a family of eight children, one of who survive him. He was born on a farm in Shelby Co. near Bloomer, Ohio. Where he grew to manhood. In 1877 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Mary Ann Rhoades who now survives him. They lived on a farm near Bloomer until June 1910 when he together with his good wife moved to Covington. Here he lived until his death.
Besides farming which was his regular occupation for a number of years, he ran a threshing machine, one of the old fashioned horse drawn kind, doing work in the community in which he lived.
He was baptised in infancy and later was confirmed a member of the Friends Lutheran Church. He was a quiet and unassuming person who tried to do his part in his own way. He was honest in his dealing with his fellowmen.
He leaves his widowed wife, one step son, A. C. Rhoades, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
God of eternal love
Our Father and our Friend
We lift our hearts to Thee above
Do Thou our prayer attend.
Endue us Lord with strength
To triumph over sin
That we may with the saints at length
Eternal glory win.
