Hanna Jane Bitner Powell
Hannah Jane Bitner Powell, daughter of Eleazer and Hannah Bitner, was born in Perry Co. Pennsylvania, Oct. 30th, 1857. She departed this life at the home of her youngest son Daniel, near Covington, O. March 15th, 1928 at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 15 days. October 11th, 1877 she was united in marriage with David A. Powell, this union was blessed with twelve children, 8 sons and 4 daughters.
In her girlhood days she gave her life to Master in Church of the United Brethren in Perry county Pennsylvania. Twenty-five years ago, she with her husband and family came to Covington, Ohio. She with her husband joined the Christian Church at Greenville Creek. To this christian teaching she has ever been faithful. On December 24, 1922 her husband departed in death, after which she made her home with her daughter Ludell Harmon. Two weeks ago she went to visit in the home of her son Daniel. Where she contracted Acute Tobar Pneumonia, after eight days patiently suffering she passed peacefully away.
Through her quiet congenial life she gained many true friends, where ever she lived. In passing to her eternal home she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
One son Russell, died in infancy. Daughter Emma died at the age of 15. Those who remain to mourn her passing are three daughters, Lucy, Henrietta and Ludell, seven sons, Thomas, Albert, Jacob, Roy, Howard, Dyson and Daniel. Twenty-five grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
One sister Mary Cunningham of Battlecreek, Michigan, one brother, Samuel Bitner of Bradford, one half brother, Charley Bitner of West Alexandria, and a host of other relatives and friends.
