THE MIAMI UNION
Troy, Thursday, April 6, 1905, page 5
Mrs. Eunice Bard, one of the oldest residents of Miami County, died Saturday afternoon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Cartwright, two miles south of Piqua, after an illness of several weeks, due to the infirmities of old age. The deceased was born in New York state, Jan. 31, 1813. She was married to Riley Bard in 1830, and they came to this state in 1831, where she had resided ever since. Her husband died in 1880, and she made her home with her daughter for the last seventeen years. She was the mother of seven children of whom three survive her - - Mrs. Martha Cartwright, George and Rockwell Bard. Twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren are left to mourn her death. In 1836 she joined the church of Christ and was a faithful member. She was a good wife, faithful mother and a kind neighbor, always willing to do her part in sickness. Funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Rev. Morrell conducting the services. A large number of relatives and neighbors followed to her last resting place.
