Another Old Citizen Passes Away
On Saturday afternoon, Hiram Pierce Norris died at his home on Walnut Street, of heart disease, at the ripe age of seventy-six years, surrounded by all the living members of his family, consisting of his wife, three sons and five daughters. The deceased was born in Cincinnati in 1818, but ten years later came with his parents to Troy, which he made his home until the time of his death, excepting a brief stay in California during the gold excitement of 1849. He was a good citizen and was respected by all who knew him. For many years he had been a member of the Baptist church. About fifty years ago he was married to Phoebe Miller, who survives him. the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. W. T. Warbinton, assisted by the Knights Templars Quartette and the remains were laid away in Riverside Cemetery.
