GEORGE E. MEEKER, JR.

TROY -- George E. Meeker Jr., 59, of Troy, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
He was born in Fulton, Ky. Sept. 18, 1946, to the late George Emil and
Louise (Davis) Meeker Sr. He married Marie "Mary" A. Grilliot on Sept. 23, 1967; and she
survives.
Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Master Sergeant George
E. and Ronda Meeker III of Mary Esther, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Brian Lewis of Troy; four grandchildren, Jaron and Matthew Meeker
and
Kathryn and Brandon Lewis; and foster daughter, Stacy Rollins of Huntsville,
Ala.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. George was formerly employed at Miami County Board of MRDD in Troy for eight
years in the adult service program as a vocational evaluator; the Paulding
County Board of MRDD as the workshop director; at Piqua Memorial Hospital as
environmental services and safety director; Yoder Industries Inc. of Dayton
as a purchasing agent; and lastly at Heartland of Piqua in environmental
services.
George was a 1965 graduate of Troy High School and a 1976 graduate of Wright
State University with a bachelor of science degree in rehabilitation education. He served as a board member on the Champaign Residential Services
Inc., was a former president of the Piqua Skypark Aero Club and served as a
board
member of the Troy Historical Society. He was the webmaster for the Troy
Historical website of Miami County resources.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Cheney Funeral
Home, Troy, with the Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday
at the funeral service (9:30-10:30 a.m.).
