POWERS, LIEUT. B. F. - Lieut. B. F. Powers, son of the late Judge Powers, of Troy, and member of the 7th Reg. O. Cavalry, died August 31st, 1865, being in his 31st year. His death was caused by the accidental discharge of a pistol in the hands of a fellow soldier, he surviving the sad casualty but a few hours. Mr. Powers had been connected with the army from the commencement of the war, and in the various positions assigned him, showed himself capable and faithful. He was universally esteemed by his comrades in arms, and was interred with the honors of war as a brave and true soldier, in the cemetery, near Morgantown, N. C. Mr. Powers was brought up under good mental and moral training, and was of a genial and free disposition.--It is unspeakably mournful that having passed through the many scenes of danger and battle for over four years, his life should be brought to so painful a close. The friend who ministered to him in his last hours, reports him as being perfectly resigned to his departure from the troublous scenes of mortal life. May he rest in peace!
